Front Derailleur: braze-on
EMS Pro/OS Fork: 700c x 1 1/8" threadless
Weight: 1.3kg

Finally got to see my Kestrel.. Received it while im in brunei. So far heard from bikeshops that this brand was not brought in to stock due to its high value. Had check out its market value, worth around 2k.

Always find Kestrel making triathlon frames, nice joints and especially the internal cabing which really make them unique and beautiful. However, interesting thing is they actually used a 1 inch ALUMINIUM steerer tube, whereas now technology is moving towards 1 1/8 and carbon steerer tube.

Some good points for setting up this bike:
  • Nice colour and parts combination.
  • Suits my little brother haha!
  • Parts gotten are still pretty hard to come by in togoparts
Some mistakes i made for setting up this bike:
  • Wheelset is too heavy, got to get another lighter wheelset.
  • Sram grip shifter took up too much cockpit space, so changed back to trigger. In the end, the groupset for the bike had changed to Deore
  • Crank is a big mistake, had to check the compatibility for the BB before bidding it. In the end, got a BB which is long enough, but have free-play between crank and BB
  • Spend too much money in setting up of bike
  • Exceeded the overall budget

Bike Project: The Judge

Yes now preparing to send the bike to be setup. Praying hard that it will be done by next wed. Also hope that the colour scheme will be nice and have an equal spread of white and black.

Initially had some ideas of respraying the frame and fork, giving them a brand new set of decals, changing the fork to a Manitou Black Elite air fork to add on the street look.

BUT, pocket was already torched to a big hole which requires patching up for the next few months. Well GST offset package really came in at the right time.

Got this bike from togoparts 2nd hand. Simple yet got the casual and high end feel to me. Love the rigid fork! Usage of this bike will be mainly wet weather, long distance casual ride and lend for races (including some conditions la)..

However bike's rear hub seems to be dried off, steering seems to be abit loose and rough.. but a good full bike overhaul should do the job. Some IA (Immediate Action) drills which i will do for this bike are:
  1. Change the fork & pedal, using them for my Identiti
  2. Switch the silver spacer to black.
  3. Remove the brake booster at the rear.
  4. Change the front de to XTR!! wahaha

Some of the freebies the previous owner kindly gave me.. 1pc Maxxis ignitor, 1pc Schwalbe skinny jimmy, 1pc tube, 1 set of xtr brake pads and suntour stock fork

Deity Bar & Stem. Thomson Seatpost. Sram 9.0SL

Wahaha finally the Deity bar stem have landed on my hands! Really pestered the seller for the past few days for him not to sell them away before i book out. Immediately today i booked out, i hopped onto a cab and rush straight to his place, Jurong East (lucky my camp is at boon lay).

Getting the Thomson seatpost is really pushing my privilege as an cadet. Imagine ran to the guards house when its almost lights off timing also i shouldn't be wondering around especially near the guard house area.

What left now for my bike is mainly a fork, which i already had an idea where to get it. Crank which I'm still quite bothered whether to just anyhow get a black crank or a high end street crank. Headset is another headache, since my bike is not really that low end, i wondering whether should i get a chris king headset to increase the poser value or just an average black colour headset.

Recently found out that my tires on my Alex DX32 cant fit my frame as the tires are to wide. Sold them off cheap (quite wear off liao actually) and the cogset is actually 8spd. Means that i had to hunt for them in the market.Crank, front de, cogset & tires left

Yes yes! another item purchased to zhng my oncoming street bike! It WHITE again!!! wahaha Just to get these stuffs , I travelled all the way down to Bukit Batok. So far this is the only shifters and rear de that are white.

Magura brake and Alex wheelset

Alex DX32 rims, Quando TX disc hubs, maxxis tires and cogset. Well.. didn't expect it to come with the tires and cogset. Save me time, effort and money to get them.

Meetup with the guy at Jurong Point at 6pm while i booked out at 4pm.. So i ended up catching 'shooter' alone. Imagine me wearing long sleeve and black pants walking along Jurong Point and sitting in the MRT with this wheelset.

Can you guys see the brake? hope it didn't blend with the white background... haha!!! yes! its my white magura.. Its quite rare to get this white edition. Most common are red, green and yellow. This is the 2nd time i saw this edition.

Previously when i saw it, they are fixed on a DDG snow camo designed DDG street bike, selling for $800.. with XT parts.. but my greediness had cost me to lose the deal. now have to spend ard $1000 to build.

Guess you all would already know what colour and riding theme i wanna build for this ride.. Most prob will be receiving my pure white magura brakes next week. cant wait to see the final setup of this bike.
